![]() Logan Acres Senior Community announced that Kathryn Sherer, director of The Homestead at Logan Acres, successfully completed the Certified Executive for Assisted Living (CEAL) certification program offered through the Ohio Centers for Assisted Living (OCAL), an affiliate of the Ohio Health Care Association. Sherer passed the NAB (National Association of Long Term Care Administrator Boards) Residential Care/Assisted Living Administrators Examination to earn the CEAL designation. CEAL is a comprehensive certification program designed to elevate the skills and professionalism of assisted living administrators in Ohio by providing a national certification along with Ohio’s most comprehensive state specific training. The CEAL Training Course is a combination of interactive classroom training, guided self-study, and hands-on clinical learning. The program is designed for experienced assisted living executives looking for a competitive edge in the marketplace, or those interested in obtaining the necessary skills to successfully lead an assisted living building in Ohio or nationwide. Although Ohio does not require certification for assisted living administrators, CEAL has aligned its program curriculum with the NAB Residential Care / Assisted Living Administrators Licensing Examination so that credentialed assisted living executives in Ohio meet national competency standards and are positioned for any future changes to Ohio’s RCF administrator requirements. Sherer has been the director at The Homestead since she transitioned from the director of Campus Marketing role one year ago. While the CEAL credential is not a requirement for The Homestead director, Sherer states, “The opportunity to fine tune my skills and expand my knowledge and value to the residents and the campus on which I serve is something I am driven toward. I am grateful to Logan Acres Senior Community, Progressive Health Systems and the Logan County Commissioners for the opportunity to continuously grow professionally and as a servant to those that choose to make The Homestead at Logan Acres their home.” ![]() Logan Acres Care Center recently received a deficiency-free survey by the Ohio Department of Health, the second consecutive annual inspection that resulted in a perfect outcome. This annual survey is unannounced and extensive in scope. Key measures of standardized care are monitored, as well as individual case histories. All health care facilities receive this extensive review and every department is carefully examined – nursing, nutrition services, life enrichment, and environmental services. “This outstanding accomplishment is the direct result of open communications with residents and families and a super- talented group of health care professionals here at Logan Acres,” said campus administrator Lorraine Fischio. A perfect survey is an honor and accomplishment for all residents and staff, as less than five percent of Ohio nursing facilities realize this accomplishment. “Our employees put in many hours of hard physical work and emotional caregiving to provide excellent care whether it’s for a short term rehab stay or long term campus living,” said Bobbi Jo Dow, the Director of Nursing. The Logan Acres Senior Community offers Rehab-to-Home services, Long-Term and Memory Care, and Apartment Living with Assistance. This Campus is brought to the community by The Logan County Commissioners and managed by Progressive Health Care Systems.
